My Review
I thought that High School Musical 3: Senior Year was amazing! Music sequences spread evenly apart, elaborate dance sequences and amazing camera work. The cinema had an amazing vibe as everyone started cheering when Troy and Gabriella kissed and they started applauding after “High School Musical”.
My favourite dance number must be “I Want It All” as the whole cast played parts in Sharpay and Ryan’s fantasy. The music was amazing and the whole sequence fit together better than I had imagined. There was a couple of places where you could’ve cried and the relationship between Troy and Gabriella was as true as real life.
The best part of the movie in my view was “Senior Year Musical Melody”, because I thought the way it was put together was spectacular. I thought it was an amazing idea to base the musical on the senior’s actual life and their interests. Starting off with Kelsi and Ryan by the piano, and finally reaching Sharpay and Tiara’s sing off. I thought the “High School Musical” scene was equally amazing. As Troy stood up on the podium I knew that his speech was going to be emotional - “Once a Wildcat - Always a Wildcat”. When the camera panned out you saw the students in the ‘EH’ shape, then as Troy finished his speech the students mixed as they all did in High School Musical 1 - “Stick to the Status Quo”. This song is where you get to hear Monique Coleman’s amazing voice. As the song finishes the six main cast members run off and the curtain closes, then they do there signature “HSM jump” and then the front curtain closes. The wildcats last curtain call.
The last few minutes made me think of how much the wildcats have grown as the franchise has too. When we think back to the first movie, Gabriella was timid and shy, Troy was the basket ball guy, Sharpay was the vicious spoilt drama girl, Ryan was Sharpay’s back-up, Chad disliked Sharpay and finally Taylor was the science geek. But as the finale came, the wildcats changed. Gabriella had broken out of her shell and was in love with Troy and was making decisions for herself, Troy had taken the Drama road and sang his way to graduation, Sharpay calmed down and started treating people like she would like to be treated, Ryan finally stood up to Sharpay and asked Kelsi to the prom, Chad joined in with the singing and dancing and Taylor also broke out of her shell and became Chad’s partner in the prom. So in conclusion, the wildcats have changed for the better and have started there new lives, relationships and colleges.
The last instalment of HSM includes a huge amount of laughter and tears, but a definite must see. A film which any person will love.
Thank-you for reading my review and check HSM3 on your local cinemas!
